Latin Film Series Finale
Wednesday April 23, 2025 1:00pm - 3:00pm PDT
Join us for a screening and discussion of the documentary My Imaginary Country (Mi país imaginario. Patricio Guzmán, 2022). The film documents the massive protests that erupted in Santiago de Chile on October 18, 2019, initiated by students advocating for increased democracy and social equality, focusing on education, healthcare, and employment opportunities. This movement rapidly evolved into one of the largest popular uprisings in Chilean history, highlighting the country’s unresolved social tensions and inequality. The documentary weaves together interviews and commentary from activists with Guzmán's personal reflections on these events and Chile's political history.
