Comm Week 2025
Tuesday April 22, 2025 7:00pm - 9:00pm PDT
In this lecture, we will explore how movement and the body communicate meaning in film through an embodied lens. Led by a guest expert in dance, video analysis research, and theories of embodiment in teaching and learning, this session will examine the ways physicality, gesture, and spatial dynamics shape cinematic storytelling. Drawing from dance studies and embodied pedagogy, we will discuss how movement is not only captured on screen but also experienced by viewers in visceral and affective ways. Through guided film clips and interactive discussion, students will engage with embodied analysis as a critical method, considering how the body can serve as both subject and site of knowledge in film interpretation.
